We got our school text book.

"Without the intervention of CfJ, I would not have been able to sit for my GCE O/L examination in 2022. When the Ministry of Education withdrew the Islam textbook, many students like me were left without the necessary resources to study for the subject. Thanks to CfJ's public interest complaint at the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL), the textbook was reinstated, allowing us to continue our studies. On behalf of thousands of students, we are deeply thankful to CfJ for their tireless efforts in securing our right to education

I feel better equal treatment.

When the Ministry of Education suddenly and arbitrarily reduced the teacher-student intake for the College of Education, particularly for Islam and Christianity, it felt like a significant setback. This decision not only jeopardized the future of prospective teachers but also threatened the quality of education for countless students. Despite the uncertainty, I remained hopeful, and thanks to CfJ’s timely intervention through a complaint filed with the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL), the intake slots were restored.

"As a father, it broke my heart to see my daughter struggle without the necessary educational accessories for her 4th-grade studies. Due to the economic crisis in the country, the prices of school supplies have skyrocketed, making it impossible for me to afford the materials she needed. However, thanks to the support from CfJ’s Makilum Idhayam (Joyful Heart) project, my daughter received the educational aid pack she needed. This generous help allowed her to continue her studies without further obstacles."

Free Distribution of School Supplies through CfJ’s "Joyful Heart" Project

The Centre for Justice (CfJ), through its Makilum Idhayam (Joyful Heart) project, successfully organized a free distribution of school supplies on Thursday, the 12th, at Kalmunai Zahira School.

The event, presided over by the school principal, Mr. M.I. Jabir, was graced by several distinguished guests. CfJ’s President, Attorney-at-Law Sahfy H. Ismail, General Secretary and President of the Ceylon Media Forum, Dr. Riyadh A. Majeed, and Treasurer, Chairman of AVS Smart Lanka Pvt. Ltd., Mr. A.A. Ashraf Ali, participated in the event.

During the program, a group of students received essential school supplies, aiming to support their educational journey and alleviate the challenges faced by families during difficult economic times. This initiative reflects CfJ’s ongoing commitment to empowering vulnerable communities and fostering education for all.

Raizan Arsath, Exco Member of CFJ called to the bar

Mr. Raizan Arzath, the Exco Member of Centre for Justice, has taken his oath as an attorney-at-law before the Judges of Supreme Court on 1-11-2022.

He has completed his first degree in Arts. To pursue his passion in the legal field, he has completed his second degree in law. Notably Raizan is music composer and a silvery singer. He is better half of Attorney-at-Law Mrs. Najeema Raizan
